FR. CON COLLINS RIP: The Month’s Mind Mass of the late Fr.Cornelius Collins, will take place in the church of The Blessed Virgin, Patrickswell, on Friday May 31 at 7pm.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Patrickswell Church on Saturdays from 8am until 12noon, and in Ballybrown on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm.
FÉILE 2013: A church gate collection will be held at all masses this weekend by the Juvenile and Camogie clubs to help defray the costs of their teams in the National Féile Finals which are being hosted by Limerick this year.

BLOOD DONORS: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires three thousand donations every week, and clinics will be held at the following locations to facilitate that requirement; Community Centre, Doon, on Tuesday May 28 from 6 to 9pm,

You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. ACTIVE RETIREMENT: The Tea Dance, which was postponed from the end of last month, was held last Sunday May 19, and was a very enjoyable and successful occasion. Eager patrons commenced dancing before the advertised start of three o’clock, to the music of the ever popular T.J.Ryan, and the GAA Hall resounded to the usual mix of waltzes, foxtrots, jives and quicksteps until well after six. A homely spread of cakes and sandwiches was served midway through proceedings, provided by members of the Active Retirement Group and ladies of the GAA, as proceeds were in aid of the under age teams. The raffle was well supported by local businesses and well wishers who provided the prizes, with many supporters buying tickets beforehand. Tickets were also in great demand during the afternoon, with everyone hoping to win something, especially one of the very fine hampers which had been donated, together with various vouchers, bottles and boxes of chocolates. The group would like to thank most sincerely everyone who helped with the organising and running of the function, and all who came to support it.
PEACEKEEPING: Next Wednesday, May 29 is recognised around the world as International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, to pay tribute to all who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping, for their high level of professionalism, dedication, and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace. It has been celebrated since 2003, and marks the anniversary of the creation of United Nations Truce Supervision to monitor the ceasefire after the the 1948 Arab- Israeli War which was the first ever UN peacekeeping mission.
NO TOBACCO DAY: Friday May 31 is observed as World No Tobacco Day. The day is intended to draw global attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and its negative health effects, which currently lead to six million deaths worldwide annually. Ash trays with fresh flowers are a common symbol of World No Tobacco Day.
ALONE WE STAND: Alone We Stand is a social evening for men and women who are separated, divorced, widowed or single and over 40. Why not come and join us this Friday May 24 at 8.30pm in The Spotted Dog, Janesboro, Limerick. Music will be by One to One, Martin Moran.
