TIDY TOWNS: We were overwhelmed at the response to our end of season table quiz, which took place last Friday evening at the Cú Chulainn. It wasn’t the best of nights to be coming out and leaving the warmth of a cosy home behind, and there was also the televised Munster match to compete with. However, we were delighted with the twentytwo tables of quiz buffs of all ages and all sections of the community, who did brave the elements, and supported us in our final fund raiser of the year. There was a friendly and relaxed air to proceedings, made all the more enjoyable under the watchful eye and humorous interjections of master of ceremonies, P.J.O’Grady, ably assisted as ever by Ann Ronan marking the papers and keeping score. The first table prize was again generously sponsored by our host, Christy Murphy, who we thank most sincerely for his continued support, and there were also prizes for second and third tables. As always, the raffle was well supported, both in terms of sponsored prizes, and the number of tickets bought. Many thanks to the businesses who provided the prizes, and also our many friends and supporters for their generosity, even in these difficult times. It was a wonderful way to round off yet another year, our twelfth infact, and we thank everyone for their support, kind remarks and appreciation of our efforts throughout the year.
