TRÓCAIRE: Your support for this year’s Lenten Campaign will help change the lives of thousands of people around the world, and many thanks for all the boxes received so far. If you haven’t already done so, please return any outstanding boxes this week. It would be much appreciated if the small coins could be exchanged into larger denominations beforehand, to facilitate an easier counting procedure.

TIDY TOWNS: We were blessed with fine weather for our church gate collection last weekend, and overwhelmed with your generous support, which resulted in the wonderful total of 1065euro. This amount will help us enormously as we head into our twelfth year of caring for Patrickswell. Thank you all so very much.

G.I.Y: Grow it Yourself, (GIY) with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food, is launching a new group for Limerick West in Croagh, Co Limerick this Thursday, April 19. The meeting will be on at 7pm in the restaurant of D&M Garden Centre with new growers and old hands all welcome. GIY’s vision is for a healthier, more connected and more sustainable world where people grow their own food. The organisation brings people together in community groups and online to inspire and empower them to grow vegetables. More information from www.giyireland.com.

HAPPY EARTH DAY: The 42nd anniversary of Earth Day will be celebrated this Sunday, April 22. The Earth Day Network was founded on the premise that all people, regardless of race, gender, income, or geography, have a moral right to a healthy, sustainable environment. Everyone is encouraged to take some form of personal action as their contribution to improving the environment. It could be something as simple as leaving the car at home for the day, and cycling to school or work, installing a water barrel or water saving devices, or composting your waste. More information and other environmentally friendly ideas are available on the web at www.earthday.org

GOLF SOCIETY: Our next outing will take place this Saturday, April 21 at Nenagh Golf Club. Golfing will commence from 10am until 11-30. All those wishing to participate must send their names to Gerry Molyneaux.

PARKINSON’S ASSOCIATION: As part of Parkinson’s Awareness Week, the Mid-West branch is holding a Coffee Morning next Thursday, April 26 at Bobby Byrne’s, O’Connell Avenue. This is to raise much needed funds for the ongoing provision of the services to Parkinson’s sufferers, as the organisation does not receive any state funding. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
