Patrickswell news for w/e April 13th

CHURCH NOTICES: The Church of the Blessed Virgin was resplendent with spring colours for the Easter celebrations of last Saturday and Sunday. The altar and Easter candle were adorned with stunning floral arrangements of white and yellow, while hosts of golden daffodils complimented the yellow and white drapes on the cross. It was indeed a magnificent backdrop for the occasion, a sight to behold, and contributed greatly to the solemnity of the Easter liturgies. Listed readers for this weekend April 14-15, The Second Sunday of Easter, and the Feast of Divine Mercy, are as follows, Saturday at 7pm Seamus Enright, Sunday at 10am Sam Milburn, Sunday at 12noon Ann Higgins. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm, Christy Murphy, Rita Madigan, Joe Tierney. TIDY TOWNS: Our litter pick as part of National Spring Clean went ahead as planned on the first Tuesday in April. The areas covered were the Clarina Road, Croom Road and the area behind the new rockery in Marian Park. In all fifteen bags of other people’s rubbish were collected. Pat Mackessy had covered the Limerick Road earlier in the day, and many thanks to him for a job well done there. Most of the grassed areas are now under control, and we appear to be ahead of ourselves at this point. One of our long held plans has also come to fruition at last after a few previous attempts, with the seeding of the area adjacent to the wall at the entrance to the Lis Ard, which had new kerbing installed towards the end of last year. Thanks to Mossie Carmody, Richie Bennis, Jimmy Mulqueen, Alan Bunworth, Ed Hayes and Mikie Allen for their assistance with that project, which we were able to finish with the planting of nearly forty rose bushes, which were generously donated by an appreciative wellwisher, along the foot of the wall. We would like to thank Donie Gorman and Seamus Riordan for their assistance with that part of the project. This weekend is our annual church gate collection and we ask for your support and generosity as we head into our twelfth year of caring for Patrickswell. Thank you.
