Patrickswell news for w/e January 20th


CHURCH NOTICES: Listed readers for this weekend January 21-22, The Third Sunday in Ordinary Time are as follows, Saturday at 7pm Doireann Foley, Sunday at 10am P.J.O’Grady, Sunday at 12noon Dan Riordan. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm, Christy Murphy, Rita Madigan, Joe Tierney. Sunday at 10am Noreen Murray, Eileen Nally, PJ O’Grady. Sunday at 12noon, Pat Kirby, Noreen Quinn, Birdie Enright. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at the usual time of 9-30am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place at 8 pm on Monday and all are welcome. Items for inclusion in the weekly Parish Newsletter should be handed into the sacristy by 9-30am on Friday or contact Fr. Muiris O’Connor on 353711 or 0866075628. ANNIVERSARY MASS: The anniversary mass for Christy Hanrahan late of Killonahan, took place last Sunday in Manister church, and was well attended by friends and neighbours. Christy, brother of Kitty, passed away on January18, 2009. May he rest in peace.

RENOVATIONS: The church Crying Room and Meeting Room are currently out of use, while renovations take place, with apologies for any inconvenience caused.

CRIB DONATIONS: The total amount donated at the crib during the Christmas Season came to one thousand, two hundred and twenty five euro, which has been forwarded to Sr. Brid Counihan for her work with poor children in Brazil. She sends sincere thanks for your generosity.

BLOOD DONORS: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will be holding donor clinics at the Southcourt  Hotel, Raheen Roundabout, on Tuesday January 24 from 5 to 8pm, and at the Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, on Wednesday January 25 from 6 to 9pm. You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. There will be donor clinics in Castletroy the following week. For more information contact the Donor Information Line on 1850 731137, or their website.

CROOM COMMUNITY CENTRE: Slots are still available for booking for indoor sporting activities including  soccer, hurling, basketball, badminton etc. Contact 061397412, croomcommunitycentre@gmail.com or on facebook, croom community centre.

GRANAGH PLAYERS: This year’s performance is “Tarry Flynn” by Patrick Kavanagh. It will be staged in Granagh Community Centre on Saturday and Sunday February 21 and 22, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday February 27, 28 and 29, at 8pm. Admission will be Adults €10, Teens €5 and U12’s Free. The play combines narration, song, dance, poetry, prayer and a selection of farm animals,(not actual), and  is a story of unrequited love with many comic interludes.We can guarantee a great show, lots of laughs and a cuppa before you go home.

 ON LINE TRAINING: West Limerick Resources will be offering a free training programme to community groups who would like to develop their own low cost-no cost website.  The group training initiative will show groups how to develop and maintain their own website using the free on-line resource – Wordpress.  While potential participants will not require any specific web programming knowledge or experience, they must have a sound basic knowledge of computers and be comfortable in the use of the internet, email and simple applications such as Word. Venue and dates to be confirmed.  Those interested in taking part are asked to contact Suzanne on 069 79114 or emailsrowley@wlr.ie to register.  Limit two participants per community group. 

BLACKWALK DRAMA GROUP: The Blackwalk Players Drama Group based in Mungret, draws its membership from neighbouring parishes, and welcomes new members. Help is always needed on and off stage, including set and stage construction, painting, prompting, costume and make up, and advertising. A play is planned in the near future. Local contacts include Julie Darcy, John Doolin, Claire Fitzgibbon, Ger Synott and Edmond Power.
