“TEX”: The untimely passing of Jimmy O’Neill of Main Street, Patrickswell, only four weeks after the diagnosis of a serious illness, has come as a huge shock to his family, work colleagues at Grassland Fertilizers, Dock Road, and his many friends in Patrickswell. Known affectionately to many as “Tex”, Jimmy will be fondly remembered for the myriad human qualities he had, not least his wonderful singing voice and razor sharp wit, but above all, the fact that he was a gentle and sincere man in all aspects, indeed one of life’s very rare true gentlemen. He faced his illness with immense dignity and his trademark humour to the very end. Referring to the nickname Tex, his younger brother Charles finished his tribute to Jimmy thus, “Adios amigo, happy trails”.
