TIDY TOWNS: The judges’ comments from the Limerick in Bloom competition are as follows; Superb roundabout with high display of flowers and grassed area, flower bed adjacent to roundabout is excellent, and provides a great introduction to the village. Grotto is very well presented, rich in landscaping, excellent displays across from the church, and raised up landscaping at entrance to Shannon Development. Marian Park Housing Estate is very well presented and colourful. School would benefit from some planting. These remarks are intended to assist us with our efforts and application next year. We were blessed with fine weather the last two weekends, which enabled us to carry out a few end of season jobs. The remaining flowers from the pots and tubs inside and outside of the shrine were removed and daffodil bulbs planted in their place. The planters on the roundabout, and the raised beds at the entrance to Shannon Development, are awaiting the arrival of winter flowering pansies and violas. The shrubs at the top end of the village opposite Lucey’s were trimmed and shaped, and the rose bed was also pruned. New daffodil bulbs ready for spring flowering have also been planted around the rose bed and in the grass triangle near the church.
