Refreshments will be served following the meeting.  A big thank you to all the school children who took the time to get out their crayons, pencils and paint to design posters for the Credit Union’s annual poster competition. This year the standard was exceptionally high and the judges had a very difficult  time deciding on the winners. However after long deliberations the winning posters were chosen and the lucky winners were Roisin Harmon from Patrickswell National School in the 7 years and under category. In the 8-10 years category, Patrickswell had another winner with Martyna Nalaskowska. Ballybrown National School’s Clodagh Kirby was the winner in the 11 – 13 years category, while Sharon Sheehy representing Enable Ireland was the winner in the Special Category. The winning posters are now entered in to the next stage of the competition at Chapter level. Again thanks to all who entered and congratulations to the prize winners and the runners up in each category. The winning and runner-up posters can now be viewed on MPCC Credit Union’s Facebook page and are also on display in the Dooradoyle office.

DISABILITY

This Friday, December 3 is recognised annually by the United Nations as the International Day of People with Disability. The foundation of the United Nations was based on the principle of equality for all, and all people with a disability are entitled to the same full and equal human rights as everybody else. The day is celebrated worldwide to recognise the achievements and contributions of people with disability. It brings together those with disability and the general community and aims to showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements of people with disability, promote a positive image of people with disability, and to involve people with disability and the broader community in activities to celebrate and raise awareness. Instead of “dis”ability, think “this”ability.
