CHURCH NOTICES
Listed readers for this weekend August 7-8, The Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, are as follows; Saturday at 7pm Joanne Tierney, Sunday at 10am Ann Higgins, Sunday at 12noon Dan Riordan. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm M.Collins, M.Bennis, B.Carroll. Sunday at 10am, M.O’Mara, M.Punch, S.Milburn. Sunday at 12noon S.Enright, N.O’Grady, R.Bennis. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday at 8pm and all are welcome.
This Friday August 6, is First Friday, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9-30 am mass until 11am. Communion will be distributed to the sick. Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass on Saturday.
BLOOD DONORS
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires three thousand donations every week, and donor clinics are being held at the following locations this coming week; South Court Hotel, Raheen on Monday August 9 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, and at the Community Centre, Foynes on Tuesday August10 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. WORLD DAYS
Thursday August 12 is International Youth Day, which has been recognized by the United Nations as an awareness day since 2000. It is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. Concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings involving national and local government officials and youth organizations will be taking place around the world. The theme for 2010 is Dialogue and Mutual Understanding.
GAA CHALLENGE
All GAA clubs have been issued with an invitation to challenge high profile stars Sean Og O hAilpin and Alan Brogan in what is being promoted as the Suremen Challenge. The successful teams, one from each discipline, hurling and football, will be tested on their skills, with the opportunity to win €10,000 each.
