TIDY TOWNS

The question on everyone’s lips this week has been, “Have the judges been yet?” We don’t really know, although judging for the Limerick in Bloom competition was due to take place sometime between Tuesday and Friday”. The weather wasn’t overly kind at the beginning of the week, but we were able to meet up on Monday and do a sweep, litter pick, and anything else that was required, including removing the GAA bunting of a few years ago from the various poles and posts at different locations. Such items are regarded as litter. An early morning litter pick was also undertaken each morning. Whatever the results of the competition, which wont be known until much later in the year, we are pleased with our efforts on behalf of the community. We have again received numerous comments from far and wide indicating that it is a pleasure to walk or drive through the village, especially with so many additional features this year. Thanks to all for your comments which are encouragement enough, and to all who have been involved with our labours since April. The watering will continue for as long as necessary, and we will endeavour to keep the village looking at its best for the duration of the season.

HOLIDAYS

There will be a reduced column in next week’s edition. Items for inclusion in the edition dated August 7 will need to be submitted by this Thursday July 29. Normal service will be resumed the following week.
