CEMETERY MASS
The annual masses for the deceased of the parish will take place this Monday August 30 in Kilkeedy cemetery commencing at 7-30pm.
BLOOD DONORS
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires three thousand donations every week, and donor clinics are being held at the following locations this coming week; Monday August 30 at the Southcourt Hotel Raheen from 5 to 9pm, and Tuesday August 31 at the Community Centre Manister from 6 to 9pm. You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. HARVEST FAIR
The annual Harvest Fair in aid of Milford Hospice takes place this Sunday August 29, at the UniGolf facility in Castletroy. The event will feature the usual range of stalls and attractions including Vintage Car Display, Kiddies Corner, Bottle Stall, Clothes Stall, Bric-a-brac, and Flowers and Plants. There will also be tea stalls, music, barbecue and games, which will all make for a great family day out, the emphasis being on family fun and good value. Milford Care Centre continues to develop its range of inpatient and hospice services, and proceeds from the Harvest Fair are a great boost to the voluntary fundraising efforts, enabling the continuation of all the services the centre provides. The organisers are urging the local community to support the fair as generously as in previous years.
KARATE
The Twin Dragon Karate Association will recommence classes on the following dates; Tuesday August 31 in Askeaton Community Hall at 7pm, Wednesday September 1 in Adare Community Hall at 7pm, Thursday September 2 in Patrickswell G.A.A hall at 7pm, and Saturday September 4 in St Paul’s scout hall St Paul’s school Dooradoyle at 1pm. BENEFIT NIGHT
Reidy’s Garage in association with the Dark Horse are hosting a Country and Western Night and Hog Roast in aid of Milford Hospice at the Dark Horse this Saturday August 28 commencing at 8-30pm. Music will be by DJ John, there will be spot prizes galore, and admission is only €5. So for a night of good entertainment, good food and craic, head on down to the Dark Horse and support a worthy cause.
HORSE SHOW SUCCESS
At the recent Fáilte Dublin Horse Show, two young local riders gave impressive performances in their respective classes. Eleven year old Bryan Fitzgerald riding Glenkeen Irish Pride qualified for the128 Pony Jumping Competition, and came away with four ribbons for his efforts during the week. Fifteen year old Vicky Ryan riding Thorndale Mischief swept all opposition before her when winning the Junior Side-Saddle Pony Competition. Since Dublin, Bryan has been competing again this time at the Limerick Show last Saturday, and was placed second. Well done Bryan and Vicky, be proud of your achievements, and long may your successes continue.
WORK ACCESS

RESOURCE CENTRE
Services available include all HSE and Social Welfare forms. The FÁS Jobs Board is updated daily, and a photocopying and typing service is also offered. The Citizens Information Service is also in attendance every Thursday from 10-30am until 12-30pm. The service which is delivered by professional staff is free, confidential and impartial. A free confidential counselling service can also be requested. The weekly 45Drive will resume in September. The Active Retirement Group meets on the second and fourth Thursdays commencing at 7-30pm. The Parent and Toddler Group meets on Thursdays from 9-30 to 11am, and new members are always welcome.
