TIDY TOWNS
The spell of fine weather last week enabled us to commence and almost complete our planting programme, and it was an extremely busy week. Forty two hanging baskets were planted and erected, and also “The wall”, the roundabout, Marian Park roundabout, and most of the new pots and containers. The rain over the weekend was welcome and timely. It was also a busy week in terms of tidying up other spots. The ivy on the wall opposite the Cu Chulainn received a long overdue trimming, and the project to build new stone planting features at various locations is also nearing completion. Mick O’Dea has kindly undertaken a major project to repair the walls from the entrance to the graveyard towards the top end of the village, which with all the other ongoing work will hugely improve the overall appearance of the village generally. Another addition which is proving a great asset is the acquisition of our new watering trolley. If anyone would like to assist in the watering rota, or offer their assistance in any other way please contact any group member.
