CREDIT UNION

MPCC, your local Credit Union, operates savings schemes in the local primary schools including Patrickswell, Crecora, St. Nessan’s, St. Paul’s, Ballybrown and Educate Together in Mungret. We would like to thank the children, their parents, guardians, the teaching staff and management in each of the schools for their support throughout the year. Educating young people to take responsibility for their own savings and to reap the benefits of saving with the Credit Union is an important issue for the Credit Union movement. With the summer holidays almost upon us, we now wish to remind all school Credit Union members that you can continue to save during the holidays by calling directly to any office of MPCC Credit Union during our opening hours, which are available on our website www.mpcccreditunion.ie. Thanks again to all the children who save in their school savings scheme and we look forward to seeing you all again in September when the school Credit Union re-opens. New members are always welcome to join the school Credit Union. For those of you lucky enough to be heading off to sunnier climes during the holidays and in need of foreign currencies, we remind you that MPCC Credit Union offers foreign exchange facilities to its members with low commission and competitive exchange rates.

TIDY TOWNS

Another busy week saw the completion of repairs to the wall which is a major enhancement to the village. The standard of work carried out has been the talking point all week, and is a credit to those involved. We are indebted to Mick O’Dea for undertaking the project. We would also like to pass on our thanks to Dermot Lamb and his team from the Croom Area Office of Limerick County Council who have reinstated the area where a new street light was recently erected. Planting is almost complete, and one more shrubbery needs to be finished with a stone surround. The large shrubbery, or “The Big Bed”, has been laid with weed block and new bark mulch, and we are grateful to Vince Doherty and Mike McSweeney for their assistance with that particular job.

GOLF CLASSIC

Patrickswell G.A.A. club held a most successful fund raiser in the form of a golf classic in Adare Manor last Friday. We would like to thank all the people who took part in the event and most especially those who sponsored teams and tee boxes on the day. In these financially constrained times every euro that the club can make is most appreciated so once again thanks to everyone who contributed. The course was in tremendous condition with very slick greens making for birdies and pars hard to come by. The format was a team of four with two to score at every hole and three to score on the 9th and 18th.The results were as follows. The sponsor’s names of the winning teams are in brackets.

1st Sean Carey, Kevin Carey, Damien Gillane and Nijel Carey 102pts.
