Patrickswell news for w/e May 14th

CHURCH NOTICES

Listed readers for this weekend May 15-16, The Ascension of The Lord, are as follows;

Saturday at 7pm Lena Mary Houlihan, Sunday at 10am P.J.O’Grady, Sunday at 12noon Dan Riordan. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm M.Collins, M.Bennis, B.Carroll. Sunday at 10am, M.O’Mara, M.Punch, S.Milburn. Sunday at 12noon S.Enright, N.O’Grady, R.Bennis. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday at 8pm and all are welcome. The new rota for Eucharistic Ministers to the end of June, is now available from the sacristy.



PARISH NEWSLETTER

Items for inclusion in the weekly Parish Newsletter should be handed into the sacristy by 9-30am each Friday, or contact Fr. Muiris O’Connor on 353711 or 0866075628. Alternatively they can be emailed to muirisoc@eircom.net



ROSARY

The Rosary will be recited at the grotto in honour of Our Lady this Thursday May 13 at 7pm. All are welcome.



WORLD COMMUNICATIONS DAY

The 44th World Communications Day falls this year this Sunday May 16. The theme is, “The Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of the Word”, and is meant to coincide with the Church’s celebration of the Year for Priests.



EXAM STUDENTS

All students who are involved in examinations this year, are invited to participate at the 7pm Mass in Patrickswell on Saturday June 5.



HAPPY HEART WEEKEND

This weekend May 13, 14 and 15, is the Irish Heart Foundation’s national fund raising event, and volunteer collectors are required to help them reach their target of €650,000.

Sisters Conailio and Agnes Fitzgerald will be holding their annual church gate collection this weekend, Saturday May 15 and Sunday May 16, for which your support will be greatly appreciated especially in these hard times. Thank you for your continued support down through the years, and to our loyal collectors.



PLAYSCHOOL

Patrickswell Community Playschool would like to extend an invitation to the people of Patrickswell and surrounding areas, to the official opening and blessing of their new Playschool this Friday May 14 at 10-30am.

Congratulations to Nelius Hayes of Ballygeale, Patrickswell, who has been appointed a Peace Commissioner by the Minister for Justice



BLOOD DONORS

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires 3,000 donations each week. Donor clinics are being held at the following locations this coming week; Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, Thursday May 17 from 6 to 9pm, and Manister Community Centre, Co. Limerick, Friday May 18 also from 6 to 9pm. You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood. There will be a donor clinic in Raheen next week. WORLD DAYS

Tuesday May 18 is World Museum Day. Wednesday May 19 is World Hepatitis Day which aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis B and hepatitis C and encourage its prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Approximately 170 million people worldwide have either hepatitis B or hepatitis C. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, most commonly caused by a viral infection. The symptoms of hepatitis include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), dark urine, extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
