MARIE KEATING FOUNDATION
The Marie Keating Foundation has three purpose built mobile units which travel in the Eastern, Western and Southern regions of Ireland. There is a Registered Nurse on board who provides cancer information and awareness to the general public free of charge. There is no cost to you. The unit has a welcome area where people can step on, take a seat and wait to see the nurse. This is not a screening service. They have charts and prosthetic teaching aids on board in order to educate, show and highlight the importance of being aware of your body. The unit is equipped with take home information leaflets on Bowel, Lung, Skin, Testicular, Prostate, Cervical, Ovarian and Breast cancer. The nurse will talk to you one to one in the private area about any concerns you have regarding cancer for yourself, a relative, work colleague or neighbour. The mobile unit will be located on the Main Street in Patrickswell on Thursday June 3 from 10.30am.

REMEMBERANCE
A service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the lives of those who died during 2009 in the care of Milford Care Centre, is being held this Sunday May 23 at 3pm in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Milford. Whatever your experience of bereavement, with all its challenges and emotions, you are invited to attend and share in this act, together with family and friends in solidarity and support.
TIDY TOWNS
The county council has at last undertaken their first grass cutting of the season, and all areas appear in good order for the time of year. Our work schedule continues in preparation for planting time. Mike McSweeney was on hand again to remove the remainder of the offending shrubs from the “big bed” as we call it, and we are waiting to lay weed block and bark mulch. The containers which were victims of the severe frosts during the winter have nearly all been cleared, and Mick O’Dea has been busy replacing them with concrete pipes. Richie Bennis and Mossie Carmody have been busy building stone surrounds at various locations including the rose bed, and the new sign at the Limerick side of Oliver Mann’s, and more will appear during the coming weeks. Liam Foley and Terence O’Brien have also been busy strimming the grass under the railings in readiness for a new coat of colour. Plants are ordered and compost delivered, and it will be all systems go once the weather and conditions are in our favour.
