IDES OF MARCH
Next Monday March 15 was known in the Roman Calendar as The Ides of March. The term originally referred to the day of the full moon, was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. Julius Caesar was assassinated on this day in 44 B.C. If it’s your birthday you share it with Sylvester Stallone, Eva Longoria and Isabella Augusta Persse who became Lady Gregory, the famous Anglo- Irish dramatist. Born in 1852, her colourful and interesting life spanned eighty years, and her motto was taken from Aristotle "To think like a wise man, but to express oneself like the common people."

FUND RAISER
Mary Delee recently organised a fund raiser at the Dark Horse, and would like to thank everyone involved for the magnificent sum of three thousand euro which she was able to donate to St.Gabriel’s Hydro-Therapy Pool. The event consisted of Head Shaving and Leg Waxing sessions, which were expertly and professionally administered by Marie Toban from Vanity Beauty Parlour, and Fiona Carmody. Host for the evening was Fergus Kilcoyne of the Dark Horse who kindly offered his legs for treatment, and another worthy volunteer known only as “The Pecker” willingly sacrificed his beard of twenty nine years to swell the total. All the spot prizes were generously donated, and there were also cash donations. The craic was mighty as befits such an occasion, and the result confirms that when it comes to supporting those less fortunate than ourselves, Patrickswell is up there among the best.
