COMMUNITY GAMES.
Last weekend the Community Games Munster Finals were held in UL. Our U12 and U16 Chess teams were in action. First up were the U16 who were up against Clare in the semi-final. This was a closely fought game but Clare emerged the winners and went on to win the Munster title. Well done to the squad who have done so well to get this far. Squad was Darragh Griffin, Conor Griffin, Richard Bateman, Jeffrey Keating, Tristan Furnell, Eoin Kennedy and Damien Kearney. The U12s were next in action and they were also up against Clare. This was an exciting contest and the score was level going into the last game. This game was declared a draw so there was a replay in which all 5 players went head to head again. This time we managed to edge another exciting contest on a score of 3-2. We went to the final where we ran out convincing winners. Well done to the squad who now go on to Athlone to contest the national finals. The U12 squad is Cian Leahy, Thomas Keating, Megan Bateman, Cillian Burke, Eoin Moore, Neil Heffernan and Aoibhinn Leahy. The date for our area Athletics Day has been set for Sunday April 25th at 3pm at the Crecora GAA Pitch. We are looking for people to help out on the day.
