Listed readers for masses this coming weekend, September 5-6, The Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time are as follows; Saturday at 7pm Eileen O’Brien, Sunday at 10am Joanne Tierney, Sunday at 12noon Angela O’Donnell .Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm M.Collins, M.Bennis, B.Carroll. Sunday at 10am, M.O’Mara, M.Punch, S.Milburn. Sunday at 12noon S.Enright, N.O’Grady, R.Bennis. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday evening from 8 to 9pm and all are welcome. This Friday, September 4, is First Friday, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9-30 am mass until 11am. Communion will be distributed to the sick. Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass on Saturday. The new rota for Eucharistic Ministers for September and October is now available from the sacristy.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires 3000 units of blood this week, and a donor clinic is being held at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy from 6-9pm, on Tuesday September 8. For more information contact the Donor Information Line on 1850 731137, or www.ibts.ie
SHOW WINNERS
There was strong representation of local exhibitors among the prize winners at the recent Limerick Show. Patsy Quinn claimed Best in Show for the fifth year in succession in the Flower Section, and Frank O’Sullivan won the Hanley Donnellan Cup for the best non-thoroughbred two year old colt or gelding. Annette Fitzgerald and Pat Fitzgerald won first and third respectively in the novice family lead rein pony class. Annette was also first in the working hunter starter stakes, and Ann Ryan was second in the show hunter pony class. There were prizes also for Astrid Hann, knitting, Mary McKinley, crochet, Maura Tully, scones, and Marie Wheeler, raspberry jam. Mark Downing, Faha, also won a first and a highly commended for his photography at Cappamore Show. Well done everybody, keep up the good work.
JOBSEEKERS INFORMATION
West Limerick Resources, in cooperation with other local agencies, will be hosting three information events this September. The events, which will run from 4-8pm, will take place in the County Council Offices, Newcastle West on Thursday September 17, Adare Community Hall on Thursday September 24, and Foynes Community Centre on Tuesday September 29.
INTRODUCTION TO WOMENS STUDIES
A ten week Introduction to Women’s Studies Programme will be run in one or two rural West Limerick locations this autumn. Open to Women, this informal and adult centered programme will take place one evening per week and aims to helping participants increase self confidence and self-awareness and progress, if desired, to further education or training. Free of charge, but places are limited. An information evening will take place on Wednesday, September 2 at 7.30pm in the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West. Applications are now sought for this fund which offers small scale grants for a limited number of eligible students who are in further or third level education. Eligible expenses include support for fees, books, travel, childcare subsistence, rent or other necessary resources. A confidential drop in centre for members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) members of our community meets every two weeks in Newcastle West, with the next taking place on Thursday, September 17. Open to single people who are over 18 and those in partnerships, it offers access to both social supports to combat isolation and loneliness, as well as providing a variety of information, including legal rights. The service if funded by West Limerick Resources and administered by Rainbow Support Services. For more information please call 085 2850107.
