TIDY TOWNS
Our monthly meetings will reconvene this coming Tuesday, August 25, in the Cu Chulainn commencing at 8pm. It has been another busy season, but the combination of everybody’s efforts has paid off once again. Our ambitious planting scheme was carried out to the letter, and the appearance of the village is still receiving rave reviews from far and wide. We don’t know if judging is over for the Limerick in Bloom competition, but the watering scheme is still in operation, and we shall be continuing with the work schedule for a few more weeks, and keep things looking good for as long as we are able. We have been asked on several occasions if there was any secret formula regarding the flowers on the wall and at the roundabout, and we are happy to inform everyone that all that is required is lots of hard work, commitment, enthusiasm, tender loving care and a daily watering. For those interested to know, there are nearly two hundred plants on the wall alone. Some residents have also expressed their disappointment that the waste ground in Marian Park has recently been used for the dumping of garden waste, and we would politely ask that this is discontinued. There was also a general air of disgust and disappointment for those attending mass on Sunday morning, to find that the trees which were only planted in front of the church on Friday, had already become the target of mindless vandalism. One can only feel sorry for those responsible, and hope and pray they get the necessary treatment
GOLF SOCIETY
Our next outing is on Saturday in Mitchelstown ,Gerry Molyneaux has full details.
Kieran Carroll kept up his recent good form finishing second in the Tuesday singles in Adare with a fine score of 38 playing off 9. Ollie Coughlan finished third with 36 playing off 12. To all teams entered in the G.A.A. Golf Classic in Adare Manor on August 28, please ring Kieran Darcy for your tee time. Afternoon times are limited so it will be first come first served. Traffic congestion into Adare is heavy on Friday so allow 15 to 20 minutes extra for your journey. There are plenty of times available during the morning. Thank you to those who have already entered a team. There are plenty of slots left for those who have not entered a team, or you can sponsor a tee box for €50 . The cost per team is €240. Congrats to Sean, Nigel and Kevin Carey who won their way through to the Munster Final in the Crumlin Hospital Team of Three competition held in Ballyneety recently with a score of 93 points. Pa Carey was on the team finishing third with a score of 87 points.
