Patrickswell news for w/e August 14th

CHURCH NOTICES

The Feast of the Assumption is this Friday, August 14 with mass at 7pm, Eucharistic Ministers, M.Bucke, J.Tierney, and J.Collopy, and at 10am Saturday, Eucharistic Ministers, E.O.Shea, and P.Kirby. Listed readers for masses this coming weekend, August 15-16, The Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time are as follows, Saturday at 7pm Frances Lynch, Sunday at 10am James McCarthy, Sunday at 12noon Joe Tierney. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm M.Collins, M.Bennis, B.Carroll. Sunday at 10am, M.O’Mara, M.Punch, S.Milburn. Sunday at 12noon S.Enright, N.O’Grady, R.Bennis. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Thursday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday evening from 8 to 9pm and all are welcome.



VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED


Ann Reidy is appealing for volunteers who would be able to assist with hoovering the church from time to time. The requirement would be for two hours per month only. If anyone can offer their services please contact Ann on 086-1602874.



FAMILY DAY

The Community Council intends to hold a Family Day in September, with the intention of raising funds for Coisceim Eile, a registered charity that purchased the Lokomat device for the First Steps Rehabilitation Centre in Patrickswell. The council are hopeful that all groups in the community will be able to offer their services on the day. More details to follow shortly.



SIGHT TESTING CLINIC

Test clinics will be held at Plunketts Pharmacy, Croom, on Tuesday afternoons. Free testing is available with Medical Cards or Social Welfare, and also includes tests for Glaucoma Screening and Driving Reports. For appointments contact Eibhlis at 061-397272.



PILGRIMAGE

Members of the Prayer Group are organising a trip to Knock Shrine on Sunday September 13, on the occasion of the Second Annual National Grandparents Pilgrimage. The cost of the trip has been set at €30 per person, which includes a stop for breakfast on the way, and a two course dinner on the return journey. Children all over the country are being encouraged to write a poem as a tribute to their grandparents, with a target of 10,000 prayers.
