Patrickswell news for w/e June 12th

COMMUNITY COUNCIL
After a year of fundraising and an appeal on the Late Late Show by the Ryan Family of Cashel, vital health care equipment has been purchased to help people throughout Munster. A Lokomat Machine designed for use by people who suffer from spinal /stroke injuries, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and brain injuries has been secured by Coisceim eile, the organisation set up by John Ryan. The machine is now in place at the First Steps Rehabilitation Clinic in Patrickswell. The organisation has to date raised €235,000 of the €300,000 target set last June for the machine. Patrickswell Community Council welcomes this addition to First Steps and is pleased to donate €500 to this worthwhile cause. Their donation to projects such as this in the community is made possible by the continuous support of Patrickswell people and surrounding areas for their fundraising efforts. At the monthly meeting in May the Community Council passed a vote of sympathy to the following: The Higgins family on the death of Nicholas , Nessan Doran on the death of his brother in law, The Harrington family on the death of Lord Harrington. May they rest in peace. There has been a problem recently with pollution at the bottle banks behind Centra. Unsuitable refuse is being left on the ground beside the containers. Also when the bottle banks are full, people are leaving their refuse there. Following representation to the Community Council they have contacted the County Council concerning this matter and have asked them to monitor the situation. The Community Council are asking the small number of people responsible for this to have pride in their village and to respect the facilities that we have.

Two, two week summer camps will run from Monday July 13 until Saturday July 25, and from Monday July 27 until Saturday Aug 8 working with Peter Pan and the Wild Ones.

CONCERT

Forget Elton John at Thomond Park, and his eighty two truck loads of equipment, the next important date in the local showbiz calendar, is Saturday June 20, when another pulsating and star studded event rolls into town, this time to raise funds for Milford Hospice. Julie Darcy and friends are producing another concert which promises to live up to all previous expectations. Reliable information indicates that the Saw Doctors, Village People, and the Sugababes will be just a few of the international stars gracing the stage of the by now world renowned venue, more locally known as the Cu Chulainn . Proceedings will commence from the shrine at 7-30 with a cavalcade of limousines transporting the all star cast, flanked and escorted by outriders from Michael O’Brien and friends, and also the Dennis the Menace motorcycle club. To prevent congestion, the motorcade will turn at the church car park. The limousines for the occasion are being generously provided by Mick O’Flaherty of Askeaton, and Irish Diamond Limousines of Raheen. A bumper raffle has again been generously sponsored and a donation box is also available in the Cu Chulainn for those who cannot make it on the night, but who would still like to support this worthy cause.
