CUAN MHUIRE
Srs. Consilio & Agnes Fitzgerald of Cuan Mhuire, Bruree would sincerely like to thank the parishioners of Patrickswell and surrounding areas for their very generous contributions in their recent church gate collection. A very sincere thanks to the loyal collectors who brave all weather elements for this worthy cause. Thanks also to the priests of the parish for allowing us hold our collection. Without the help of all concerned it would very difficult to continue this worthwhile  work. May the Good Lord reward everyone in his own way. Many thanks Srs. Consilio & Agnes Fitzgerald.

SCHOOL NEWS
First Holy Communion. The following Second Class pupils received the sacrament of the Eucharist at the Church of the Blessed Virgin, Patrickswell: Leah O Carroll, Claire Kiely, Amy Buston, Sarah Gillane, Jade Murray, Bríd O Dea, Patricia Bennis, Ciara O Flynn, Leanne O'Brien-Halvey, Megan O Neill, Aisling Gorman, Rachel Ahern, Adam Carrig, Jordan McCarthy, Darren O Flaherty, Neil Byrnes, Clive Kirby, Calvin Carroll, Cormac Kerins, Aaron O Shea, Kyle McCarthy, Tomás Crowe, Zachary O Donnell, Smith Omojoefodun, Paul Kelly, P.J. Foley.  The class was prepared for First Holy  Communion by their teacher, Mr. David Bulfin.  The choir was trained by Mrs.Ciara Russell.  Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Muiris O'Connor PP and Rt. Rev. Monsignor Michael Lane VG. The exhibition of  memorabilia at the GAA Clubhouse, which formed part of Lá na gClub & Schools GAA 125 Day was a huge hit with pupils of all ages.  It was an opportunity for many of them to see themselves and their relations, including great-grandparents in some cases, in the magnificent collection of photos, newspaper cuttings, scrapbooks and match programmes on display.  A few days earlier, GAA 125 Day was celebrated in the school.  A full programme of GAA-themed activities was organised for the day.  Tapes and DVDs of famous Limerick and Patrickswell matches were a great attraction.  Also enjoyed were long puck and penalty-taking competitions, GAA puzzles, colouring competitions, crosswords, table quizzes,  and GAA-themed lessons. For many, the highlight of the day was the “Questions & Answers” session in the School Hall with Richie Bennis, Gary Kirby, Anthony Carmody, Ciarán Carey and David Bulfin.  A full transcript of this session will appear in the School Newsletter in June.
There was great news for everybody associated with the school when it was announced by an Taisce that the school will be awarded its second Green Flag in a few weeks time.  This award marks the achievement of a significant reduction in energy usage in the school and, just as importantly, a raising of awareness of the importance of energy conservation.  Two years ago, the school was awarded its first Green Flag for activating a very successful anti-litter programme. A flag-raising ceremony to mark the occasion will be held before the Summer Holidays. In recent weeks pupils have visited Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Stonehall Farm and Tons of Fun. School teams have participated with distinction in the City hurling and camogie leagues.  Over 50 pupils competed in the Primary Schools Athletics finals in Plassey and pupils from all classes took an active part in the school's Positive Behaviour Week.  The next big events on the school calendar are the annual school tours and the Patrickswell's Got Talent Show which will take place in June.

TIDY TOWNS
The first phase of the summer planting scheme went ahead as planned at the weekend, in some very trying weather conditions for some. Forty two hanging baskets were planted out late on Friday, and all in place by early Saturday afternoon, in glorious sunshine, and thanks again to Mossie, not yet back in perfect working order, but still doing his bit. Accolade of the week must go however to the four ladies who planted out the wall and the containers on the roundabout in atrocious conditions early Saturday morning, and who thoroughly deserve their new title of the Patrickswell (All) Weather Girls.

GOLF CLASSIC
The School's Golf Classic will be held in Adare Manor on Friday June 5. Entry per team is  €200.  Anyone who wishes to take part can contact Mabel at the School Office (355057).  For tee-times contact Gary Kirby, 087-2570690.
