CEMETERY MASSES: The annual cemetery masses within the parish will take place as follows; Clounanna this coming Monday August 20 at 7-30pm, Patrickswell on Monday August 27 at 7-30pm, and Kilkeedy on Friday August 31 also at 7-30pm.
GOLF SOCIETY: This is the final reminder for our Captain’s Prize, which will be held in Castlemartyr Golf Club in Co. Cork this Saturday August18. Contact Gerry Molyneaux regarding the time sheet, which is filling up fast. We will be running a free bus on the day but seats are limited, to book your seat contact Kieran Darcy. The bus will be leaving from outside the Cu Chulainn bar at eight o’clock sharp. Please note that the word sharp means what it says as we have to keep to a schedule for the day. GROW IT YOURSELF : Limerick West GIY with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food, will hold its next meeting in D&M Garden Centre, Croagh, this Thursday August 16 at 7pm. New growers and old hands all welcome. This month there will be a talk on harvesting and storing along with all the regular items we cover. GIY’s vision is for a healthier, more connected and more sustainable world where people grow their own food. The organisation brings people together in community groups and online to inspire and empower them to grow vegetables. More information from www.giyireland.com.
HERITAGE WEEK: National Heritage Week commences this Saturday, offering
a fantastic opportunity for families and everyone to get involved in Ireland’s heritage, learn more about it, preserve it, and enjoy it. A varied and interesting range of activities will be taking place all over the country, covering a wide range of topics including nature and wildlife, folklore, and built heritage. County wise, Kilmallock will be staging its Walled Town Day this Saturday and Sunday, and there will be an evening of traditional music, song and story, at the Rambling House, Knockfierna, Ballingarry on Sunday August 19 at 8.30pm. The venue will also be hosting an evening of gramophone music on Wednesday August 22 commencing at 8pm, and an evening of storytelling on Friday August 24 also commencing at 8pm. All are welcome. SHOWS: Good luck to everyone from the locality, who will be exhibiting, competing or participating in any way at Cappamore Show this Saturday. Summarised as a one day agricultural show with top class displays of cattle, horses, cookery and craft, with live on-field entertainment and children amusements, Cappamore Show, now in its 58th year, is one of the leading rural shows in the country. This is the second year the event has been staged on a Saturday. The following weekend, August 25-26, Limerick Show, Munster’s largest agricultural show, will take place at Limerick Racecourse, Greenmount, Patrickswell. Many local people will also be heading there, and hoping for success in the various competitions. GRAVEYARD: The rubbish bins at the graveyard are intended solely for the disposal of items from the graveyard, and not for the general disposal of any other waste. Please use the bins for their intended purpose, which is to help keep the graveyard clean and tidy. Thankyou.
POWERLIFTING: Several members of Patrickswell Powerlifting Club set new records at the recent Powerlifting Championships, including the team award. The next event for the club will be the World Championships, which are to be held in Slovakia, where eight team members will be taking part.
MONTESSORI SCHOOL: Step by Step would like to wish all the best for the future to the recent graduates who will soon be going to primary school, the school is very proud of them all. The facility is HSE registered, and all staff are fully qualified. Learning is achieved through a variety of activities including arts and crafts and projects which highlight caring for the environment, and help the children to grow and develop, and build up their confidence and self esteem. CURRAGHCHASE: The Curraghchase 10K Run-Walk will take place this Sunday August 19, and if you haven’t registered online to participate, you can register between 9-30 and 11-30 at Kilcornan Community Centre on the day. After the prize giving ceremony, there will be a BBQ and entertainment at the community centre.
