He was happy to confirm that the reported bomb scare, which greeted them on their arrival, was nothing to get too excited about. The only inconvenience caused was to have to claim their baggage out on the tarmac, and thank God it wasn’t raining.

PARISH NEWSLETTER:
There will be no publication of the weekly newsletter during July and August.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE:
Arrangements are being made by the Patrickswell Prayer Group, for a trip to the National Grandparents’ Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine, on Sunday September 11. The cost will be 30euro per person for return bus, a mini-breakfast en-route and a two course dinner on the return journey. There are also two vacancies for the trip to the Holy Land, which is taking place in October. Contact Joan O’Brien 320947, Dan Riordan 397460 or Ann Reidy 355684 for more details.

TIDY TOWNS:
The recent spell of fine weather has given a boost to the hanging baskets and flower beds, which all appear to have come on in a flourish during the last week, in time for the judging of the Limerick in Bloom Competition due to take place either at the end of this week or the beginning of next. As part of the judging procedure, photographs will be taken prior to the judges’ arrival, and members have been busy all week, taking advantage of the fine weather, to ensure that the village will be looking its finest whenever the judging takes place. So many people have become involved in so many ways this year, generously lending equipment and giving of their time in a very practical way and making sure their own areas are up to scratch, for which we are extremely grateful. Even after the judging we will continue on with our efforts, and hope that the colourful displays and general appearance of the village will give a lot of pleasure to residents and visitors alike, for the rest of the summer and beyond.

CREDIT UNION:
Despite the Government's Car Scrappage Scheme coming to an end, MPCC Credit Union continues to offer its members motor loan rates at an exceptionally low rate of 6.7% APR and are actively lending. You may have decided not to change your car this year but how would you like to make your current car look like new again? The answer is simple. During the month of July, MPCC Credit Union is offering all its members the opportunity to enter a weekly draw for a luxury car valet at Punches Cross Car Wash and Valet Centre. All members who carry out a transaction on their account will automatically be entered into that week's draw. This draw is another benefit of being a member of your local credit union.
