CHURCH NOTICES
Listed readers for masses this coming weekend, December 5-6, The Second Sunday in Advent are as follows; Saturday at 7pm Dan Riordan, Sunday at 10am Joe Tierney, Sunday at 12noon Lena Mary Houlihan. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm E.O’Byrne, R. Madigan, J.Tierney. Sunday at 10am, N.Murray, P.J.O’Grady. Sunday at 12noon B.Enright, N.Quinn, P.Kirby. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. There will be an exchange of priests from neighbouring parishes within our Pastoral Area at this weekend’s masses. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. This Friday, December 4, is First Friday, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9-30 am mass until 11am. Communion will be distributed to the sick and housebound. On Saturday there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 9am till 12noon, in the meeting room, and also for the following two Saturdays in Advent, and Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday evening at the new time of 7-30pm and all are welcome. This Tuesday December 8 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception , and is a Holy Day of Obligation.
COLLECTION
Your generosity is asked for the church gate collection this weekend which will be taken up for the Parish Clerk.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The Annual General Meeting of Patrickswell Community Council takes place this Wednesday 9th December @ 8pm in the Resource Centre. As it is the AGM it is a public meeting, and everyone is welcome.

CREDIT UNION
The Board of Directors of M.P.C.C. Credit Union would like to advise all its members that the A.G.M. will take place on Tuesday, December 15 @ 8.00pm in Mungret / St. Paul's GAA Club in Mungret Village. All members are invited to attend and a free prize draw will take place on the night for those in attendance. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. Members are further advised that with effect from Tuesday, December 8, the Dooradoyle office will not open until 10.30am on Tuesdays, in order to facilitate staff training.

PASSION PLAY
The Oberammergau Passion Play which is performed once every ten years, takes place next year. Joan Bourke is organizing a seven night trip from August 2-9, which will include a performance of the play, and also a visit to Vienna, Salzburg and Munich. DYSPRAXIA
The Limerick support group of the Dyspraxia Association of Ireland is holding a Christmas Family Activity Day on Sunday December 13, at The Old Rectory, Croom, from 2-5pm. Price: €35 per family which will include sausages, chips, popcorn, crisps, drinks for the children, and tea or coffee and scones for the adults. Also visit to Santa Clause and a selection box for each child, and a family photo to remember the day by up and coming photographer Sinead Boland. It is proposed to run a Kids Social Club from this venue in the New Year, so please do not hesitate to let us know your opinion and enjoyment of the day.
HUMAN RIGHTS
Wednesday December 10 is recognised annually across the world as Human Rights Day The date was chosen to honour the UN’s adoption and proclamation, on 10 December 1948, of the first global enunciation of human rights, and has been celebrated since the formal establishment of Human Rights Day in 1950.The day is a high point in the calendar of UN headquarters in New York city, and is normally marked by both high-level political conferences and meetings and by cultural events and exhibitions dealing with human rights issues. In addition, it is traditionally on this day that the five-yearly United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights and Nobel Peace Prize are awarded. Many governmental and nongovernmental organizations active in the human rights field also schedule special events to commemorate the day, as do many civil and social-cause organisations. UDHR holds the world record as the most translated document, which is available in more than 360 languages, and organizations around the globe will be able to use the year to focus on helping people everywhere learn about their rights.
INNOVATION AWARDS FOR RURAL ENTERPRISE
These awards which have been announced for 2009/10 offer the farming and rural community the opportunity to encourage and motivate the development of their business idea, feedback on their business idea from the expert judging panel and win up to 40,000euro worth of prizes. All entrants to the competition are required to complete an entry form together with a sample business plan and to indicate which category they wish to enter: Energy/Manufacturing, Value Added/ Speciality Food, Services/Rural Tourism or Start up (not yet trading). CHRISTMAS MARKET
All are welcome to come along on Sunday December 6 to the Rathkeale Christmas Market in the Community Centre between 12 and 5pm. Admission is only €2 and all children need to be accompanied by an adult. There is an additional charge to visit Santa. If anyone would like to have their business, organisation or group advertised on the day on a computerised rolling presentation, please contact Mo on 087 9915873. There is a charge for this with all income being used towards the cost of the market, the town’s Christmas lights and the St Patrick’s Day parade.
