CONCERT
Julie D’arcy would like to thank her two fantastic assistants, Louise and Noleen, and all who helped in any way to produce such a great night for the concert which was held on Saturday June 20, in aid of Milford Hospice. The total raised so far is in the region of €3,700, and it is hoped that proceeds from the sale of the DVD of the event will bring that to €4000. The date for the launch of the DVD is yet to be announced. Sincere and heartfelt thanks are extended to the many business people of Patrickswell and beyond for generously providing the host of spot prizes that were available on the night, and to all those generous friends and supporters who made private donations. To all the stars and performers who took part in the show, P.J. O’Grady our irrepressible Master of Ceremonies, Paul Carroll for his musical expertise, Askeaton Limos, Mike O’Brien and his bikers, the doormen, stage hands and ticket sellers, and all who made the occasion so successful a big thank you from Julie.
RATHFREDAGH
The annual Garden Fete and fund raising day will take place at Rathfredagh this Sunday July 5, commencing at 1pm. There will be the usual array of stalls and entertainment making it a great family fun day and worthy of your support.
TIDY TOWNS
Our work schedule continues unabated, and among other jobs completed, the roundabout nearest the racecourse was weeded, and kerbs and paths sprayed. The former shrubbery adjacent to Luceys has been raked and seeded, and requires a few showers of rain to encourage germination. The grass under the railings from First Steps to the roundabout has also been edged. Lots of other work is being undertaken by many other people who are keen to help out. All these jobs are adding significantly to the overall appearance, and we are grateful to everyone for their contribution to our efforts.
GOLF SOCIETY
Kieran Carroll secured his first win in a major cup last Sunday by winning the Jubilee Cup competition in Adare. The top four prizes were all won by local Patrickswell golfers. The format was V Par. Indeed it was a bit of a family affair with his son David winning the gross prize in the same competition. The scoring was very tight with just one shot separating the top six. The results were 1st. Kieran Carroll 3 up, 2nd. Alan Purcell 3 up, 3rd. Derek O’ Curry 3 up, Gross Prize David Carroll.
