TRĂ“CAIRE
Thank you for all TrĂ³caire boxes which have been returned so far, and for all donations using the envelope scheme. As suggested in the recent parish newsletter, could all boxes be returned by this Sunday, April 19, It would also be greatly appreciated if the smaller coinage could be changed into larger denominations or notes, to facilitate counting of the money. Envelopes are still available for those who wish to make a donation.
TIDY TOWNS
The wild weather on Tuesday 11th, curtailed our original plans for the Spring Clean, and litter pick. However, a fine evening ensued on the Wednesday, which enabled us to tackle the Clarina Road and Croom Road. In just over an hour, ten large refuse sacks had been filled with litter, together with an assortment of other items including a toilet seat. Enquiries were made as to its origin, but unfortunately we had nothing to go on. Our annual church gate collection takes place this weekend, and we look forward to your continued generosity and support, to enable us to bring this year’s plans to fruition.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The Community Council would like to thank all who supported their fundraising day at Patrickswell racecourse recently. They would also like to thank Mr. Russell Ferris, Manager of the Racecourse for his assistance. The Community Council passed votes of sympathy to the following at their recent meeting: Catherine Philips on the death of her sister and the Maguire Family on the death of Tony. May they rest in Peace.
MPCC CREDIT UNION
There was a tremendous response to our Children’s Easter Wordsearch competition. We received hundreds of entrants but unfortunately there can only be one overall winner. The lucky child to win the giant Easter Egg was Alex O’Donovan of Ballycummin, Raheen. The runners-up who also won Easter Eggs were Katie Slattery Coll, Catherine Earlie, Fiona O’Rourke, Adam Burke, Josh Considine, Alison Hurley, Amanda Curtin, Adam Quilligan, Lauren Bourke, Evan Buston & Kumail Abbas. Again, a big thank you to all the children who took the time to enter the competition and to their parents and teachers. We hope to run another children’s competition later on in the year.
CONCERT
The first meeting to organise the concert went ahead last Monday April 6, and Julie Darcy, Louise Foley and Noleen Mulqueen would like to thank all who turned up on the night. The date for the concert has been fixed for Saturday June 20 in the Cu Chulainn, and all proceeds will be in aid of Milford Hospice. Members of Dennis the Menace Motorcycle Club have promised their support, and they will parade their bikes through the village before the concert commences. The next get together is scheduled for this Monday, April 20, in the Cu Chulainn at 8-30, to establish what acts will be performing, and all those wishing and willing to take part are asked to attend.
