CHURCH NOTICES

This Sunday, April 5, is Palm, or Passion Sunday, and palms will be distributed and blessed at all masses. Listed readers are as follows; Saturday at 7pm Eileen O’Brien, Sunday at 10am Rosemary Kelleher, Sunday at 12noon Angela O’Donnell. Eucharistic Ministers, Saturday at 7pm M.Houlihan, J.Collopy, M.Bucke. Sunday at 10am, K.Enright, R.Kelliher. Sunday at 12noon M.McDermott, E.O’Shea, R.Fitzgerald. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 10 o’clock mass on Sunday until the 12noon mass, with prayer intentions for vocations and religious life. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday evening from 8 to 9pm and all are welcome. This Friday, April 3, is First Friday, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9-30 am mass until 11am. Communion will be distributed to the sick. Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass on Saturday. Next Thursday, April 9 is Holy Thursday, with mass at 7pm, Eucharistic Ministers J.Collopy, M.Bucke, E.O’Byrne.



GOLF SOCIETY

The 2009 golf season got underway on Saturday March 21 at Kanturk Golf Club, with our Captain for the season Jimmy O’Rahilly having his “ drive in” before the outing.The weather was very kind to us and Kanturk was in splendid condition with a great turnout of members on the day. All of us in the society would like to wish Captain Jimmy and our President Sean McDermott a very successful season for 2009. The scoring was very close on the day with just four points separating the top four cards. The overall winner was Dessie Foley with 41 points. Category1 Winner was Timmie Sheehan(10) with 39 points. Second was Paul O’Grady (15) with 37 points. Category 2 Winner was James Devine (16) with 37 points. Second was Davy Moran with 34 points. The front 9 was won by Gary Kirby (6) with 23 points, and the back 9 was won by Jimmy McCarthy (11) with 20 points. Full membership must be paid up on or before our next outing which will be held at Ennis Golf Club on Saturday April 25 There are still some members both new and old who have not forwarded their contact mobile numbers to our secretary Gerry Molyneaux so that they can be included in our clickatel contacting service. This service is our main source of contact with our members, so if you are one of these people, would you please contact Gerry on 087-9301600. We would like to pass on our sympathies to the Ryan family on the death of their father Gerry, and also to Benny Nolan and his wife Kay on the death of Kay’s mother, Mairead Keely, may they rest in peace.



RACE DAY

Patrickswell Community Council is hosting a day out at Limerick Race Course this Monday April 6. Tickets are available from Community Council members and cost €10. The Council would like to thank the Racecourse for their support with this initiative, and they look forward to seeing the people of Patrickswell at the races on Monday.



ENGAGEMENT

Congratulations to Marcus Milburn, son of Sam and Mary, Killonahan, who recently announced his engagement to Catherine Eylott in Wokingham, England. Family and friends extend best wishes to them both.



BLOOD DONORS

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is holding local donor sessions at the following locations. Monday April 6 at the Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, from 6 to 9pm, and at the Southcourt Hotel, Raheen, on Wednesday April 8 from 5-8pm. CONCERT

Julie Darcy is organising a fund raising concert in aid of Milford Hospice in June, and a meeting has been arranged for this coming Monday, April 6, in the Cu Chulainn, commencing at 8-30pm. All previous participants, those interested in performing, and anyone who would like to volunteer their services or help out in any way are invited to attend.



LATIN MASS

Latin Mass has been said monthly at St. Patrick’s Church, Dublin Road for the past three years, and is proving very popular. Canon Wulfran Lebocq will be taking up permanent residency in Limerick in the near future to continue with this, every third Sunday. PILGRIMAGES

A pilgrimage to Fatima will be departing from Shannon on Thursday May 28, accompanied by a spiritual director. The cost for seven nights full board will be 759Euro. Also, an Italian pilgrimage taking in San Giovanna, Assissi and Cascia, from Monday September 7-14, costing 945Euro including taxes and insurance. COMPETITION

To celebrate its first anniversary in Patrickswell, John Mcgarry Photographic Studio is running a photographic portrait competition.
