CHURCH NOTICES
Listed readers for masses this coming weekend, March 7-8, the Second Sunday of Lent, are as follows; Saturday at 7pm Frances Lynch, Sunday at 10am Joe Tierney, Sunday at 12noon James McCarthy. Eucharistic Ministers. Saturday at 7pm E.O’Byrne, R. Madigan, J.Tierney. Sunday at 10am, N.Murray, P.J.O’Grady. Sunday at 12noon B.Enright, N.Quinn, P.Kirby. Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. This Friday, March 6 is First Friday, and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9-30 am mass until 11am. Communion will be distributed to the sick. Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass on Saturday. Weekday masses are at 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place every Monday evening from 8 to 9pm. and all are welcome. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after 10 o’clock mass until the 12noon mass each Sunday during the season of Lent, with prayer intentions for vocations and religious life.
TRĂ“CAIRE
Boxes for the TrĂ³caire Lenten Appeal are available in the Church porch. This year’s campaign focuses on raising awareness and funding for those in the world who have been forced to leave their homes because of armed conflict, and violation of their human rights. There is also an envelope available for those who wish to make a donation.
COLLECTION
The organisers would like to thank you most sincerely for your generosity at last week’s church gate collection, which was in aid of Milford Hospice.
STAINED GLASS COURSE

GROW
GROW is a Mental Health Organisation which helps people who have suffered, or are suffering, from mental health problems. Members are helped to recover from all forms of breakdown, or indeed, to prevent such happening. GROW has been in Ireland since 1969 and has a national network of more than 145 groups throughout the country. The Limerick group is based at 65 O’Connell Street, where meetings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8pm, and also on Wednesday at 11am. SYMPATHY
The community was united in grief last week with the passing to their eternal reward of Joseph Graham, more affectionately known as Josie, of Lurriga, and Gerry Ryan of Ballygeale. Deepest sympathy is offered to both families.
CHURCH MUSIC
A festival of church music takes place this weekend, March7-8. St. John’s Cathedral is hosting an organ day on Saturday with a free lunchtime recital at 1pm. St. Joseph’s Church is the venue for a choral workshop given by Liam Lawton, commencing at 2pm for which booking is essential, 086- 3203473, followed by mass at 5-30pm. TIDY TOWNS
The Annual General meeting took place on Tuesday February 24. Sam Milburn was re-elected Chairperson, and reported on a very successful year with Patrickswell being awarded Third Tidiest Village in the county awards, and also scooping the top prize in the Limerick in Bloom Competition. Rita Madigan was re-elected group treasurer, and was thanked for keeping the books in good order. The county council is to be contacted regarding the increase of illegal dumping in the area. Our great friend and supporter, Christy Murphy of the Cu Chulainn, has recently penned a poem in tribute to the work of the group, and this will appear in the local newsletter soon.
BEALTINE FESTIVAL
Mo Foley of West Limerick Resources, and Maurice Clarke of the Blueberry Art Gallery, Main Street, have been in touch with several groups, including the Tidy Towns, regarding the Bealtine Festival which is taking place in May, celebrating creativity in older age. They came up with the idea of a sculpture. The outline shape would be prepared, and everyone would be invited to bring old shoes to be attached to the sculpture. The finished article would then be planted, and become an additional feature to the floral schemes already planned. Posters and information leaflets will be distributed soon.
PILGRIMAGE
A pilgrimage to Fatima is departing from Shannon on Thursday May 28, accompanied by a spiritual director. The cost for seven nights will be 759Euro, and for more details contact Joan Bourke on 061-600951.
