REMEMBRANCE TREE: The Christmas remembrance tree is now in place in the church near the door at the entrance to the sacristy, for all those who wish to remember their loved ones who have died or who will be away from home for Christmas. Simply write their names on the tags provided and hang them on the tree.
TIDY TOWNS: The festive tree at the shrine is now lit for the Christmas period, and we would like to thank all who were involved in the preparation and installation. Special thanks to John Fitzgerald at Fitzgerald’s Electrical for generously discounting a new string of cable and bulbs, there are now approximately three hundred bulbs in total on the tree. Mossie Carmody, Vince Doherty, Jimmy Mulqueen, Liam Foley and Seamus Enright spent a good few hours fitting the new bulbs and replacing ones in the previous string. John Enright also assisted to get the lights on the tree, which we estimate is somewhere in the region of forty feet tall. Vince and his grandson Sean O’Driscoll then spent the course of a few days getting the cabling, plugs, fuses and timer sorted. To limit the costs involved in the power consumption, the lights are only on from 5 pm until 1am. Many thanks to you all for your efforts in adding to the festive appearance of the village, the tree is impressive and we have received many favourable comments about it.
