SACRED SPACE:
West Limerick 102fm broadcasts a weekly programme on Sunday mornings from 10 until 11, which includes inspirational music, chat, interviews, local events, reflections, and a gospel reading of the day. The show is presented by John Keily with panellists and invited guests, and is repeated on Thursday from 10-30 to 11-30 pm.
SCHOOL ADMISSIONS:
Application forms are available from the school office for the admission of pupils to any of the classes. This may be of interest to those who may have moved to the locality recently. The school can be contacted by mail or phone, 061-355057.
BLOOD DONORS:
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires three thousand donations of blood every week, and donor clinics are being held at the Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, on Monday June 20 from 6 to 9pm, the Southcourt Hotel, Raheen Roundabout, on Tuesday June 21 from 5 to 9pm, and at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy, on Thursday June 23 from 6 to 9pm.You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. REFUGEES:
Next Monday June 20 is World Refugee Day, and is dedicated to raising awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world, and to draw the public's attention to the millions of refugees worldwide who are forced to flee their homes.
WORLD MUSIC DAY:
World Music Day is celebrated annually on June 21, recognising that music is the soul of every human being, and to make propaganda of music in all its forms and various manners. Novice and expert musicians the world over, are encouraged and motivated to give live and impromptu performances of their musical ability in the streets. Known originally as Fete de la Musique, the event first took place in England in the early eighties.
SUMMER SOLSTICE:
The Lough Gur Summer Solstice festival commences this Thursday June 16, and continues until Tuesday June 21. It all kicks off with a fun table quiz in Reardons at 9-30pm, and the rest of the programme is as follows,
Friday at 8pm Summer Solstice Show in Honey Fitz featuring local talent. Saturday at 11.30, Geoff Hunt pond life workshop at lakefront suitable for 6 to12 year olds, bring wellies and a fishing net.
Saturday also at 11.30 a Zumba workout with Jean Troy at lakefront.
Saturday at 4pm, Willie Carroll skittles tournament for teams of four in aid of Cliona Ring Foundation at Reardons. Saturday at 7pm, the unveiling of plaque to Sissy O'Brien of "The Farm by Lough Gur" fame in Bruff churchyard.
Sunday, a family fun day by the lake, adults €5, and children €2 - all activities free thereafter which will include bouncy castles, a craft market, farm animals, Norman Re-enactments and lots more. Tuesday 21, a long walk for a long day, 7.30pm at lakefront, approx 10km walk over 4 hills around Lough Gur with teas and sandwiches in Reardons after. There will be live music in Reardons on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. More details on www.loughgur.com

BILBOA 10K:
The Ger Mullane Memorial Road Race at Bilboa, Cappamore, takes place this Friday, June 17. The walk will commence at 7:30pm, and the race at 8pm. Registration on the night before each event. Contact John Berkery on 086-2064145.
