CHURCH NOTICES

Please arrange a replacement if you are unable to fulfill any duty allocated to you. Weekday masses are at the usual time of 9-30 am Monday to Friday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday at 8pm and all are welcome. PARISH NEWSLETTER

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The meeting last Tuesday for Eucharistic Ministers was well attended by both the current panel, plus five parishioners who have recently undergone a training course to become Eucharistic Ministers. Fr.Muiris O’Connor being unable to attend, the new recruits were introduced by Marie Bucke and Rose Kelleher, and they were warmly welcomed by the current panel. Their training has taken place at St.Pauls, together with other parishioners from the Pastoral Area. They will be included in the new rota which will commence the first weekend in March. All current ministers are looking forward to working with them, and assure them of  every assistance as they embark on this very important part of  the lay ministry within the church.            

 

 COLLECTION

The organisers of the church gate collection last weekend would like to thank you for your contributions which were for St. Vincent’s Centre, Lisnagry. The annual collection in aid of Milford Hospice will be taken up at all masses this weekend, and your generosity would again be greatly appreciated.

 

MEETING

Following the various revelations of the last number of years, and as part of our healing journey the Pastoral Area is organising a meeting for priests and parishioners on Monday March 7 from 8 to 9-30pm in St. Paul’s NS, Dooradoyle. This will provide an opportunity for those who would like to listen to each other, to speak about the difficulties of the last few years, and to consider how to move forward together. The meeting is open to all six parishes and the planning group is requesting that you confirm your attendance in advance by giving your name to Fr.Muiris O’Connor by February 28, in order to have some idea of numbers who will be attending.  


COMPUTER COURSE

A six week computer course begins on Wednesday March 2 at the Patrickswell Community Resource Centre. The class will take place from 10am - 12noon, and the cost will be €20 for the course. Places are limited, for more information call into the Resource Centre, or call Teresa on 061-320303.

 

PILGRIMAGE

A ten day pilgrimage to the Holy Land, with spiritual directors, is being organised by Patrickswell prayer Group, from October 1-10 flying directly from Shannon. The cost will be E1145 PPS, which includes half board accommodation and all taxes. For further information contact Joan O’Brien 320947, 087-9688233, or Dan O’Riordan 397460.

GOLF SOCIETY

At our recent well-attended A.G.M. we got the ball rolling for the upcoming year on the golfing circuit. First business was the Treasurer’s Report and in this, Seamus Enright gave a very detailed account of the finances for the past year. Secretary Gerry Molyneaux outlined what happened on the golf courses in 2010 and outlined where we will be playing for 2011.Officers elected for the coming year were as follows, Captain Tony O’Neill,Vice Captain Ger Considine, Secretary Gerry Molyneaux, Treasurer Seamus Enright, Handicap Secretary Gary Kirby, P.R.O.Kieran Darcy.
Committee: Michael Woulfe, Mick Naughton, Liam Quinlan, Tom Dundon, Jimmy O’Rahilly, Frankie Nolan, Mick Barry, Lar Considine, Tony Hurley, and Gerry Ryan.
Membership Fees can be given to any of the above. In order to win the Captain’s Prize this year each member must have played in at least three previous outings.
Also, in order to win the Golfer of the Year competition, a member must hand in six out of eight scorecards one of which has to be the Captain’s Prize scorecard.

 Sunday March 13, Adare Golf Resort, 9am -11am. Saturday April 16 Castleisland, 10am-11.30am. Saturday May 14 Roscrea, 11am- 12.30pm. Saturday June 25 Cahir,10am.- 11.30am. Saturday July 16 Woodstock 10am-11.30am. Saturday August 20 Galway Bay 10.30am-12.00noon. Saturday September 25  Charleville     10am.- 11.30. Saturday October 22 Waterford Castle 10am-12.00noon (Captain’s Prize).We hope to see you all at these outings and hope you enjoy them and the best of luck to all members in the up coming golfing year.

ARTHRITIS

The Limerick branch of Arthritis Ireland is holding an afternoon tea dance in Mungret GAA Clubhouse this Sunday February 27 from 3 to 6pm. Seamus Sheehy will be providing the music, and there will also be spot prizes. All proceeds will be used by the branch to help provide information and support to sufferers and their families in the area. A sponsored walking challenge entitle ”Get Your Joints in Motion” will take place on Saturday May 7. It is for people with arthritis, in aid of people with arthritis.  Three quarters of a million people, men, women and children live with  the disease in Ireland, and funds raised from the walk will be used to improve their lives. COURSING

The Irish Cup, the last coursing meeting of the season, takes place at the racecourse in Greenmount, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 25,26 and 27.
